I AM IN LOVE AND I WISH I COULD JUMP INTO THIS BOOK AND LIVE IT FOREVER!!!

You may think that's dramatic, but I promise you, I mean that with my full being. As a chubby girl, I don't know why I haven't read books with bigger girls in it sooner! I loved myself so much after reading this book.
Amy is very clear at the beginning of the book that it is fluff. Fluff that she has worked very hard on, but still fluff. If you don't like fluff, this may not be your thing. But if you're like me and fluff is your very essence, then this is everything you’ve ever wanted and never known you needed.
There are so many things I loved about this book, so I will try to group them under umbrella topics.

1.	Body and Sex Positivity
Trixie's body isn't the center of the plot. Being a plus-sized woman dating a professional athlete isn't the center of the plot. It is mentioned a couple times, but it's not what the book is about. Trixie also isn't the only woman in the book with a bigger body. There are women of many shapes and sizes mentioned throughout the entirety of the book. It was so refreshing to read; I felt seen! I felt represented!
There's also never any shame about anyone's sexual history or preferences. There is a very positive outlook on choosing to be sexually active or not. As mamma Moore says, slut and virgin are social constructs and only mean what we want them to; they don’t have to define us.

2.	Found Family
This topic makes me want to cry and laugh at the same time. Let's start with the fact that Trixie was instantly welcomed into the friendship group of the Mustang wives and PALs without any hesitation. The only plot line where women are trying to bring each other down is Trixie’s old high school bullies. With every other woman in this book, they do whatever the can to lift each other up and support each other, even if they are newly acquainted. Trixie is an only child. The Kingman clan consists of 7 brothers and 1 sister. In the US, football is a religion. Football is family. They look after each other. When I tell you I wanted to and did scream (into my pillow) during any scene that involved the Kingman clan together and the Mustang wives and PALs, I had a sore throat after. It’s one of those things where you read it and all you want to do is grin like a Cheshire cat to the point that your face hurts. I can assure you, mine did, in fact, hurt.

3.	Enthusiastic Consent
Bridger Kingman made me an instant fan with this one. Amy has written men who are respectful, kind, protective, and chivalrous. One of these examples being enthusiastic consent; with each Kingman boy, daddy Kingman had the sex talk with them and made sure they understood that no meant no. A woman will either enthusiastically consent to your advances or not. If she says no, or she’s not interested or anything like that, you back off and you be respectful.
Amy wrote it in such a way that it was plain and simple and easy to understand what was being said. With the boys’ interactions, they pull each other up on it; Everett even pulled Chris up on it.

Now, see, the thing is, I could go on and on and on about this book until the cows come home. But we have lives and other things to do, so I won’t.
What I will leave you with is this:
If you are a bigger girl or you simply struggle with self-love and acceptance, this book will help you. It honestly helped me love myself a little bit more. When reading this book, I felt joy in a way I hadn’t in a long time when it came to reading. You will feel so happy and seen and just straight up, pure, unadulterated joy when reading The Cock Down the Block. You’ll laugh, you might cry (good tears), you might even want to jump into the book like me. Amy has written sexy women, both inside and out, writing in such a way where you don’t doubt for a second that it is normal.
Forgetting that we’re reading and wanting these realities is why we read in the first place.
So go read it. I highly recommend it.
